L’Ortles – Luce, colore, gioiello della natura

Al disopra della risorsa mineraria della Val Venosta nota in tutto il mondo, il marmo, si erge il duomo di questa montagna di dolomite e calcare, tenuta dalla millenaria roccia primitiva di quarzo, scisto e gneis. Il gioco di luci incanta l’osservatore.
In autunno l’Ortles è ancora più bello nel rosso pallido del sole che sorge... ha qualco-sa di magico in sé. Con i suoi 3.905 m è il re dei numerosi tremila nel Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio. Una cosa inimmaginabile per oggi: la Prima Guerra Mondiale si svolse anche sulla sua cima Le linee del fronte correvano lungo il sentiero Lago d'oro, nel versante di fronte alla strada del Passo dello Stelvio. Su questa alta via delle tavole tematiche spiegano la guerra di montagna, la vegetazione locale e la geologia. Da questo versante si schiude una nuova visuale ai turisti e alle persone del posto. Terrazze con belvedere sulla strada del Passo dello Stelvio rendono i famosi tornanti un esperienza unica per il panorama. Su questi belvedere si trovano tavole visive sulla varietà della natura e la bellezza del Parco Nazionale. Johann Pichler, per quelli del posto noto come Pseirer Josele, fu il primo a scalare l’Ortles il 27 settembre 1804. L’arciduca Giovanni ordinò di aprire questa cima all’alpinismo. Un obelisco al ristorante “Weißer Knott”, sulla strada del Passo dello Stelvio, ricorda l’ impresa alpina di Pseirer Josele.
Anche Reinhold Messner ha aperto vie sull’Ortles. Ormai contadino di montagna, Messner ogni anno a metà giugno conduce i suoi Yak dalla stazione a valle di Solda sul Madriccio, ai piedi della regione dell’Ortles, nel mondo della flora e della fauna alpine di alta quota su cui volteggia l’aquila reale, animale araldico del Parco Nazionale. Chi vuole, può apprezzare il panorama mozzafiato dalla più grande funivia delle Alpi che conduce al Rifugio Città di Milano.
Messner ha dedicato all’Ortles uno dei suoi cinque musei. Il “Messner Mountain Museum Ortles”, a Solda, ospita la più grande collezione del mondo di foto dell’Ortles, presenta attrezzi per il ghiaccio del passato, tematizza lo sci, l’arrampicata sul ghiaccio, il Polo Sud e il Polo Nord, la violenza delle valanghe e il confronto artistico con il ghiaccio.

La regione dell’Ortles è un gioiello naturale e fonte di energia per sciatori tranquilli ed esigenti, per escursionisti, scalatori e ciclisti di tutto il mondo e per coloro che vogliono ritrovare se stessi.

A tradition that transcends borders. 🐑 Since 2019, transhumance in the Schnalstal valley has been recognised as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. Every September, the flocks of sheep return to the valley across the main Alpine ridge – crossing glaciers and a national border.

There’s nothing better than a fresh apple straight from the tree. 🍎

The first Vinschgau apples are now being harvested on the sunny slopes at altitudes of between 500 and 1,000 metres. Plenty of sunshine, the Vinschgau wind and the temperature differences between day and night give them their unique flavour.

Autumn is slowly setting in on the Vinschgau valley High Mountain Trail. 🍂

Stretching 108 km, the trail leads from the source of the Etsch river at the Reschen Pass to Staben – through the sunny slopes of the Vinschgau valley, past historic mountain farms and offering impressive panoramic views of the Ortler Group. It’s a special high-alpine multi-day hiking experience, especially in autumn.
